Budapest airport: new cleaning company, improving services

For a couple of weeks, the airport’s facility management has been working in close cooperation with B+N Referencia Zrt., the new owner of Airport Security Zrt., on the continuous improvement of the airport’s hygiene level.

Based on the experience collected during this summer’s peak traffic and the feedbacks from passengers, Budapest Airport decided to revise the state of sanitary units of the airport. As a result of the investigation, the facility manager doubled the capacities of the toilets at the most frequented areas – at SkyCourt restaurants and the luggage reclaim of 2B – for the next summer, whereas other sanitary units are undergoing significant refurbishment.

This refurbishment means full-scale engineering and electric modernization as well: the pipeline and wire networks are going to be replaced too. The program starting this year is the extension of the refurbishment program that started last year: Budapest Airport handed over the renewed sanitary units of Terminal 2A in the summer of 2017, the quality of which perfectly satisfies these demands. At the end of the project, a total of 500 m2 of sanitary area will have been refurbished, so if all goes as planned, in the 2019’s peak season, passengers will be welcomed by twice as many and refurbished sanitary units in the entire area of the terminal.

In order to ensure the highest quality cleaning service, Budapest Airport started its cooperation with B+N Referencia Zrt., one of Hungary’s biggest facility management providers and the new owner of Airport Security Zrt..

Budapest Airport’s Chief Operating Officer Péter Huszka said: ‘Based on last summer we could see that the sanitary capacities need to be adjusted to the increased passenger numbers, because in spite of the increased frequency of cleaning, the sanitary conditions of the restrooms deteriorated faster and did not live up to the quality we would like to provide to our passengers.’

‘We are sure that even in a challenging field like an international airport we can provide our trademark high level of cleaning. It is important for us that incoming passengers receive a positive first impression about the country, therefore our company does its utmost to ensure the passengers meet proper and clean conditions even during and following the refurbishment. We are increasing our cleaning staff, revising processes and introducing a new quality control system in the near future’, said Ferenc Kis-Szölgyémi, CEO of B+N Referencia Zrt.
